We Turned One!!

We Turned One!!

How is it that the holiday season is right around the corner so soon! This was my reminder that Oba and Co. has been existing for a year now, since it was this time last year I was getting ready to have my very first market. Is this for real?!! Sometimes I find myself scrolling through my pictures on my phone and I am in awe of what has happened in the past year.

Let’s take a little stroll down memory lane to recap this past year:

I have attended numerous markets at the Lokahi Kailua Market this past year and a couple new ones (shoutout to Malama Market and Aloha Home Market), I have a total of 18 different designs and counting (WHOA!), was able to finally narrow down my color scheme (for now) that I want, spent many late nights past my bed time printing and curing shirts to prepare for my market weekends, had my family so graciously volunteer to help me get everything I needed to complete in order to have successful markets, got my website up and running and sent out my first online orders, had an opportunity to be in a store, made my first huge bulk order of blank onesies and shirts, ordered numerous samples for different types of products, added some other fun accessories to go along with my shirts, have met so many supportive and encouraging customers, and last but not least, I have met many many amazing small business owners and created friendships along the way.

Being blessed by this process is an understatement. I have experienced days of frustration and defeat, creative droughts, and burn out (since I still have my regular day job as well), but I can’t help but cling onto the good days through it all. It is also the days when I feel my creative flow and scribble all over a scratch piece of paper that gets me excited all over again. I am so excited to see what this next year has in store for Oba and Co. I have a feeling that more color will be introduced this upcoming year :) I was told that all black ink is nice, but color could enhance it a little more. So we will see! The journey has just begun.
